Lisa Marie and her Mother Joanne (Young) were given voice today in BC’s Legislature aka the House – Sheila Malcolmson, MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly for Nanaimo, BC) rose and eloquently delivered heart-felt words:
#LisaMarieYoung disappeared 18 years ago. Her family’s never stopped looking for her.
You’ve seen the posters all over #Nanaimo: “last seen June 30, 2002”.
Lisa’s mum Joanne organized a march in her honour for 16 years.
Since Joanne’s passed away, this year Lisa’s aunt and grandfather invite us to walk for Lisa June 28, 11am at Nanaimo’s RCMP station.
Today I told the #BClegislature how close to home #MMIWG can hit.
And how we can help:
• June 30, 8pm leave your “porch #LightsOnForLisa”
• Listen to Laura Palmer’s podcast #WhereIsLisa
• If you know something, tell RCMP Corporal Markus Muntener 250-755-3223
You can act, to mourn Lisa’s absence and jar our community’s memory.
Thank you to Lisa’s family for the honour of sharing their story.
