Easter 2016, Axel Dollheiser, German-Canadian rock and roll road manager & driver, steered Allison Crowe and Band into Izola, a lovely fishing town on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast (across is Venice on the Italian side of the sea). A special concert in the 15th century Manzioli palace was followed by a national broadcast on Easter Sunday – live from the legendary Studio Hendrix of Radio Koper.
Now, the Slovenian news-weekly Mandrač devotes a full-page to revealing this story of people united by a song, and of cultural kinship that knows no borders. “How did Izola end up among superheroes?” chronicles the journey of Leonard Cohen's music, plus a band of Canadians, from Newfoundland and British Columbia coming together with the people of Slovenia and several of its natural treasures incl. musicians Enzo Hrovatin, Drago Mislej “Mef” and arts patron & international liaison Milka Smid. Hvala, one and all!!
