With the #SnyderCut movie release at #1 in the UK, and joy resplendent all across the Snyderverse, (DVD, BluRay, + CD presentations following the online and IMAX screenings), it’s a fun time to look at the seven-LP box-set that Mondo and WaterTower Music (WB’s record label) have created for the film’s original soundtrack.
The 54 track music collection, pressed on 180 gram vinyl, delivers composer Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL)’s “Mount Everest of scores” for “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”. The epic score’s book-ended by vocal tunes and performances – closing with Allison Crowe’s single, first, take revisiting of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” engineered and produced by Allison’s fellow islander, Adam Thistle.
Of this recording #ForAutumn, Ray Porter – Shakespearean actor & audio-book narrating hero who plays the film’s ultimate heavy, Darkseid – told Allison on a recent Pop! Culture Corner podcast:
“Your performance of that song for that film is so raw and so strong and so vulnerable and it’s all of these incredible emotions. The song itself is great. Your performance of it… there’s a lot of cuss words I would say right now and that’s highest praise.
But, seriously… it’s perfect for the film, for all of the events surrounding the film. It’s wonderful at the end of the movie that we get this glorious release. This cry to the heavens. You know. And that’s in your voice. It is a fantastic performance.”
And when it’s vinyl, it’s final. 🎶
